Louise Sheehan – Flute
Louise is a graduate of CIT Cork School of Music, where she completed both an honours BMus and Masters programme, studying with Sabine Ducrot. Louise began her musical studies taking flute lessons at the age of 9 in Cork City Music College with Shena Shortall. Over this time she realised a passion for music which lead her to full-time studies.
Throughout her early years she was a keen ensemble player and had the opportunity to play with orchestras and ensembles including the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Cork School of Music Symphony Orchestra, CSM Wind Ensemble, and more recently,Cork Concert Orchestra. She was also a participant in the RTENSO (National Symphony Orchestra) Mentoring Scheme 2013 & 2014.
Over the years she has enjoyed competing in local, national and international competitions- including Feis Maitiú, Feis Ceoil, the Irish Freemasons’ Young Musician of the Year, The British Flute Societies, and Jeunesse Musical in Romania.
During the past few years she has sought out masterclasses internationally, including courses offered by Atarah Ben Tovim, Samuel Coles, Philip Bernold & Julian Beaudiment(Nice Summer Academy) and Wissam Boustany.
Louise is an enthusiastic teacher, working with a variety of musical organisations and institutes in Cork.
